Daniel Riley’s major new work, Trackerwill be one of the centrepieces of the upcoming 2023 Adelaide Festival.
Using the extraordinary story of Riley’s great-great Uncle Alec Riley, one of the most respected Black Trackers of the 20th century as a Starting Point, Tracker is an urgent look at cultural resilience in the face of colonisation.
weaving together dance, music and text, Tracker is brought to life by Australian Dance Theater in association with ILBIJERRI Theater Company and by a team of celebrated First Nations creatives, including award-winning playwright Ursula Yovich (Man With the Iron NeckSF2019), co-director Rachael Maza AM (Black TiesSF2020), composers James Henry and Gary Watling, visual artist Jonathan Jones, lighting designer Chloe Ogilvie, and an all-First Nations cast.
Culturally rich and ambitiously original, this multidisciplinary work rethinks how we engage with and experience First Nations storytelling.
Australian Dance Theater will present Tracker as part of Adelaide Festival 2023 at The Odeon from 10 – 18 March. For tickets, visit www.adelaidefestival.com.au/events/tracker.
