About ECDC
ECDC is a public health agency of the European Union, operational since 2005. Its mission is to identify, assess and communicate current and emerging threats to human health posed by infectious diseases, special disease issues and outbreaks of unknown origin. The Center is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and employs around 370 staff.
ECDC collects, analyzes, and shares data on more than 50 infectious diseases and special disease issues such as COVID-19, influenza, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, measles, tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, and vaccination, among others. By working with experts throughout Europe, the Center pools Europe’s health knowledge to develop authoritative, robust and independent scientific opinions about the risks posed by current and emerging infectious diseases.
