Grooms is an intimate dining experience in the heart of Monasterevin. Originally known as ‘Groom’s Cottage’, and now called the Ranch, it was commissioned in 1882 by Henry Moore, 3rd Marques and 8th Earl of Drogheda, for the head groom of his estate, combining the old and the new and trying to retain the history of the beautiful house gave us the name ‘Grooms At The Ranch’.
Having spent time in the kitchen learning from one of her favorite chefs JP McMahon of Aniar in Galway, Audrey takes the techniques that she has learned and her appreciation for fresh local produce and combines them with her own personal flair to create what she hopes is a menu that will be enjoyed by all her guests in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
We try to keep the menu seasonal and not only use the fresh herbs and vegetables grown by my husband in our own garden. Anything that we don’t grow we source locally and have built relationships with wonderful growers, foragers, fishmongers and butchers in the Kildare area. We are proud of the fact that absolutely everything served in rooms is made from scratch by Audrey in our own kitchen at the Ranch.
We serve a 7 course tasting menu which can be adapted to suit everyone. Wine pairings are offered alongside our tasting menu or you can choose your own from our extensive wine list, all of which have been specially chosen for us by our dear friend, Jean Smullen WSET Dip who many of you will know from Newstalk’s ‘Movies & Booze ‘ slot with Sean Moncrieff.
