Mattel Drops an Epic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Season 1 Recap

Mattel drops an official recap for the first season of Netflix’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in order to promote Season 2.

With the second season of Netflix’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe upon us, Mattel has released a recap for Season 1 to help get viewers up to speed.

The Season 1 recap video — which runs at just under seven minutes — was shared to the official Mattel Action YouTube channel. Catch up on the full season 1 story of He-Man & The Masters of The Universe before Season 2 premieres worldwide on Netflix beginning Mar 3, 2022,” the video description reads.

Netflix’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a modern, CG-animated reimagining of the 1983-1985 animated series of the same name. It premiered the entirety of its 10-episode first season on Sept. 16, 2021. Season 2, meanwhile, consists of eight episodes. The Netflix show is actually the third animated series to be titled He-Man and the Masters of the Universewith 2D-animated reboot having aired on Cartoon Network from 2002 to 2004.


Of course, this show isn’t Netflix’s first foray into the Masters of the Universe mythos; She-Ra and the Princesses of Power aired on Netflix for five seasons from 2018 to 2020. Netflix’s She-Ra was a modern reimagining of the 1985-1987 cartoon She-Ra: Princess of Powerwhich was itself a spinoff of the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

Speaking of the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universethere’s also Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revelationwhich serves as a direct sequel to the 1983 cartoon. Revelation‘s 10-episode first season was split into two five-episode parts. Part 1 dropped on July 23, 2021, with Part 2 following suit on Nov. 23, 2021. It remains to be seen if the show will return for additional episodes. However, then Revelation is aimed at adults, Netflix’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe reboot is more family-oriented.


“In order to save Grayskull from destruction at the hands of Skeletor and his mind-controlled royal army, He-Man takes the castle to the distant safety of the aerial kingdom of Aviaon,” an official synopsis for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Season 2 reads. “There, brash braggadocio King Stratos believes he and he alone can lead the Masters to victory. Meanwhile, Teela, Ork-O, and King Randor rally a resistance against Lord Skeletor. But in order for Teela to gain any ground with her impending insurrection , she and her team will need to win over the king of ‘the world below,’ the multi-faceted Man-E-Faces.”
