Old Carrick Mill Distillery To Launch Two Exclusive Gins

Old Carrick Mill Distillery, based in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, is launching two exclusive gins for Aldi in March, Nationwide.

The gins are called Mo Chara meaning ‘my friend’ in Gaelic and come in two flavors – a pink gin with pink grapefruit as the dominant flavor and a clear pineapple gin. The gin comes in a 50cl bottle and is 40% ABV, a premium strength liquid and will cost €19.99 a bottle.

The botanicals in the pink grapefruit gin are pink grapefruit, juniper, lemon, lime, coriander, angelica root and the botanicals in the pineapple gin are pineapple, juniper, coriander, angelica root, cassia, pear, pineapple, lime.

The gins pair wonderfully with any premium tonic water or lemon juice and are complemented by a slice of pink grapefruit or pineapple respectively.

Steven Murphy, founder of Old Carrick Mill Distillery says, “We have worked with the Aldi team for a number of years and we were very by their support of Irish artisan producers and helping us reach a larger target audience. The support from Aldi has been amazing and we are really looking forward to launching these two new gins with them.”

Steven has created a selection of wonderful cocktails with the gins, a twist on the Pink Lady cocktail.

The Irish Lady

• 35ml Mo Chara gin – your preferred flavour
• 25ml triple sec
• 25ml lemon juice
• 10ml sugar syrup
• 10ml egg white

Put all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass with a large chunk of ice and serve with either a pink grapefruit slice or pineapple slice depending on the gin you used.
