The Last Airbender Unveils a Stunning Cooperative Board Game

The Op announces a brand new cooperative Avatar: The Last Airbender card and dice game called Avatar: The Last Airbender Fire Nation Rising.

The Op revealed the sixth installment in its Rising series with Avatar: The Last Airbender Fire Nation Rising.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Fire Nation Rising is a cooperative card and dice game that gives players the chance to fight the series’ antagonist, Lord Ozai, themselves. Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender will be able to play as Aang, Sokka, Katara, Toph and Zuko as they work together to unite the four nations. Each character from the series has their very own set of unique abilities to help bring down the evil Lord Ozai. Players will also have the opportunity to call upon some of the fan-favorite characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender such as Momo, Appa and Avatar Kyoshi to stretch their team of heroes. Fire Nation Rising does not yet have a release date.

According to the game description, the objective of the game is for players to “recruit other heroes from the four nations and battle a variety of Villas leading up to the Day of the Black Sun.” Avatar: The Last Airbender Fire Nation Rising Also includes a custom sculpted figure of the tyrannical Fire Nation leader Firelord Ozai which stands in the center of the gameboard and attacks the player every turn. Alongside Firelord Ozai are many of the infamous villains from the series, including Azula, Long Feng, and Admiral Zhao.


The Op offers a handful of other Avatar: The Last Airbender-themed merchandise, some of which can be used alongside Avatar: The Last Airbender Fire Nation Rising. Players can purchase Avatar: The Last Airbender-themed card sleeves, dice sets, and RUBIK’s Cube from The Op. Fire Nation Rising can be played with up to 5 players, but the game includes a rule set for solo play as well. The tablet game will be available this summer for $49.99.

This isn’t the only upcoming game based on Nickelodeon’s acclaimed animated series. It was reported in December 2021 that Magpie Games’ Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Gamethe crowd-funded tablet RPG, was expected to officially launch in the summer of 2022. The game was scheduled to release earlier in the year, but shipments were delayed due to a supply chain shortage.


Moreover, it was recently reported that two new video games — an RPG (Role-Playing Game) and MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Fame) — were in development with Paramount’s Avatar Studios and an undisclosed game studio. Details surrounding the games are currently unknown. Beyond gaming, Netflix is ​​in the process of developing a live-action series based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. While the live-action adaptation does not yet have a release date, the original animated series is currently available to stream in full on Netflix.
